Debenham's next Arts Festival will be from June 18 to 27, 2010. This period will include two very successful village occasions, the Art Exhibition in the Church and the Street Fair, as well as Arts Festival events.

This will give the village two packed weekends of events to appeal to a wide audience. The Arts Festival will include:

  • Literary events - following Booker prize winner Hilary Mantel's appearance last year, we have got some exciting authors lined up to talk about their work
  • Music -  there willl be music in the pubs, on the street, a Battle of the Bands and a Music day at the Leisure Centre
  • Drama - there will be performances from our own Debenham PLayers as well as other theatre groups
  • Poets - by popular demand we are hoping to get the Poets in the Pub back again
  • Sound Installation - a very exciting project is being planned

There will be no separate Arts Festival events on Sunday June 20 when the bi-annual Street Fayre takes place in the High Street which is closed for the afternoon. The Church Art Exhbition is the following weekend, June 25 to 27.

The aims of the Festival are to:

  • encourage participation in and appreciation of the arts.
  • celebrate local talent and inspire the community
  • include events for all sections of the community
  • promote Debenham in the wider region
