That's it for another Year!

The 2011 Debenham Arts Festival has ended with a bang!
The entire event, over 4 days was a success - with writers, poets and performers spread around the village sharing their talent with others.
The most successful events were the Primary School workshops where Dean Parkin taught year 5&6 kids to write poetry and use any word imaginable to create a masterpiece. Another success was the 4 day exhibition at Dove Cottage where artist Lois Cordelia showed off her gorgeous pieces of silhouette artwork. Along with that, the archive footage in Dove Cottage brought in a lot of the older residents of Debenham to take them back to how it used to be. Penny Parks & Shirley Bignall reading Dr. Seuss was also a big hit with local children and parents, so much so that there wasn't enough room in the library. After which started the Music Day at the Leisure Centre with a bunch of brilliant musicians from Will Dixon to Cassidy and the loud Long Bone Trio.
On Sunday, the festival ended, but the whole day was filled with events for everyone. In the morning, around 1000 bicycles came through the village, unfortunately they came nearly 2 hours early so no-one was there to see the initial group go through. After the bikes ended, the street opened and a number of events started, with magicians amazing children, a medieval style joust with a modern twist and a treasure hunt. In the late afternoon and early evening the events really came to life, with the ‘Sganerelle’ and musical jam session in The Angel getting people warmed up for the quiz later in the night.
Over all, the festival was a great weekend, with the weather on our side and a smattering of local talent made for a truly magical experience.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible - the sponsors, helpers and performers.
