Debenham's next Arts Festival will be from June 18 to 27, 2010. This period will include two very successful village occasions, the Art Exhibition in the Church and the Street Fair, as well as Arts Festival events.

This will give the village two packed weekends of events to appeal to a wide audience. The Arts Festival will include:

  • Literary events - following Booker prize winner Hilary Mantel's appearance last year, we have got some exciting authors lined up to talk about their work
  • Music -  there willl be music in the pubs, on the street, a Battle of the Bands and a Music day at the Leisure Centre
  • Drama - there will be performances from our own Debenham PLayers as well as other theatre groups
  • Poets - by popular demand we are hoping to get the Poets in the Pub back again
  • Sound Installation - a very exciting project is being planned Read more: Plans for 2010 Festival

The festival will again have an impressive series of events with writers from East Anglia and further afield. Anthony Thwaite, the poet, and his wife Ann, biographer and writer of children's books, will talk about their work.

Sarah Bower will return to Debenham to run another writing workshop, Benedict Gummer will talk about his book on the Black Death, and Sheila Hardy will be reading from her book about Suffolk poisonings.

David Bedford promises to get everyone to do the “greatest dance ever invented by a zebra,” as well as reading one of his stories for children.

Piper Terrett, who was recently chosen Britain's Green Voice, will be offering tips from her new book: The Frugal Life: How to Spend Less and Live More.
